If the Family Have a History of Breast Cancer, Avoid Alcohol Right Now!

Previously there has been a scientific study linking wine with breast cancer risk. This time scientists tried to relate the relationship between alcoholic beverages with the risk of cancer in a girl whose family has a history of cancer.

When a mother suffering from breast cancer, it could be her daughter will also fear of the disease because she worried would be exposed to the same disease with her mother.

The team of scientists from the United States found a simple way to reduce breast cancer risk to a child whose mother had attacked the disease. They suggested that these girls avoid alcoholic beverages.

A study has been carried out on 7,000 girls aged between 9-15 years. The study was conducted for approximately 10-11 years. The participants involved in research has been ascertained to have a family history of breast cancer (breast cancer either malignant or benign), can be from the mother, aunts, or grandmothers.

From observation, it is known that some of the participants who were already in her 20s, a heavy drinker. After further investigation, 3.1% among those who frequently consume alcohol every day, have benign breast disease (can be a pain or a lump benign). As for those who are not or never drank alcohol, only 1.3% of benign breast disease. Although not including cancer, it is not likely to trigger breast cancer later in life.

“It must be realized that drinking alcohol can increase their risk of breast disease and breast cancer later in life,” said a researcher named Catherine Berkey.

But there are some parties who are not sure and have a slightly different opinion, that a family history of breast cancer coupled with the consumption of alcohol does not mean that will increase the risk of breast cancer in a girl. Nonetheless, researchers still warn that it is better to avoid alcoholic beverages to maintain health, including avoiding the risk of breast cancer.
