Dementia is a condition which there is a decrease cognitive ability caused by the decline in brain ability or function. Dementia itself is often associated with Alzheimer’s disease that dangerous. According to health experts, the condition of dementia can be prevented.
Someone can reduce the risk of dementia by just doing simple things, for example, just doing crossword puzzles, play sudoku, gardening, making snacks, or singing. According to experts, preoccupies your brain/mind and body only for 2 hours a day is a therapy and was able to ward off dementia. This reinforces a statement saying that maintaining brain health also means maintaining a healthy body.
According to Professor Elmar Graessel from Friedrich-Alexander University who was doing research in this regard, it is said that the therapy by doing simple things not only to prevent dementia in healthy people, but also can help people with dementia to live better.
This is evidenced by a study involving a number of nursing home residents. At the nursing home held kinds of relaxed and enjoyable discussions, where participants are welcome to talk to their favorite things are even allowed to sing along. In addition the participants were told to do light activities such as bowling, solving puzzles along with their colleagues, preparing snacks, or gardening.
From research conducted for approximately one year, it is known that these therapies have the same effect with a dementia patient who was given a cholinesterase inhibitor treatment.
